How our family saved the post office
Our previous licensee retired in December 2024. After that, Australia Post kept the doors open by sending staff out from Launceston every day until someone new could take it on.
By then our family was already working through the application, which we had to keep under wraps (it was under an NDA). Meanwhile the town showed how much the post office mattered: the STAMP committee (Stop Taking Away My Post Office) got going, and around 400 locals turned up for a rally and a video that went viral. It was lovely support to have behind us.
We took over the post office in September 2025.
We run it as Pig Creek Homestead (that's us!), the Licensed Post Office. William's mum, Maria, is our licensee, and William looks after the farm produce side.

PO Boxes are available, with pricing set by Australia Post. We've also got parcel lockers. You can apply online with Australia Post or come into the Fingal Licensed Post Office and apply in person. Ask at the counter if you need a hand.
