Activities
Camp on a working farm under Tower Hill, just your group
Proper bush camping on a working highland farm. No shooting required, and one group per booking, so the place is yours.

Coming in future Cabins and other stays are on our wish list. See our future projects.
Just want to camp? That's welcome too, no shooting required. Choose "Camping only (no shooting)" when you book. Camping $110 a night per group. Hunting from $192.50 per hunter, first night.
Camping areas
We've got multiple camping spots tucked into the hills and no neighbours nearby. Expect frosty mornings, big night skies and the odd wallaby wandering past camp. Nights up here get cold, even in summer, and the weather can change fast, so pack for all four seasons.

Before the induction you can set up in the camp setup area only. At the induction we show you where you can camp, the fire sites and any area where we'll be active, so you can stay out of it.
Facilities? Not really.
This is the honest bit. There's no water, power, toilets or showers, and phone coverage is patchy. Bring all of your own supplies and facilities, be ready to look after yourselves, and take all your rubbish home with you. Music is welcome in the Fonthill Farm camping areas.

Clear night skies far from light pollution.
If you're lucky, the occasional aurora.
Getting in
Our tracks are rough, steep and rocky in spots, with scrub along the way. Some tracks cross creeks over culvert pipes. A 4WD or high clearance vehicle is the go. After rain some tracks are best left alone, and we'll point those out at induction.
Farm tours aren't part of stays just yet. They're coming in 2027.

Firewood and fire safety

Please bring your own firewood. Small quantities of camper firewood (enough for a couple of days) are available at $55 inc GST, subject to availability. Larger loads of sustainable firewood won't be available until winter 2028.
Follow Total Fire Ban days and fire restrictions from the Tasmania Fire Service. Use only the fire sites shown at the induction and keep fires small.
What to bring
- A UHF CB radio (handheld or vehicle), so we can contact you and you can contact us. Use the farm UHF channel (given at induction).
- Camping gear, food, plenty of water and a first aid kit.
- Warm sleeping gear, wet weather gear and good boots.
- Firewood: see Firewood and fire safety.
- Something to take your rubbish home in.
- No shooting or hunting is allowed on a camping only booking. Firearms must not be taken out of vehicles.

Farm gates remain closed and locked at all times. Your gate code is sent in your pre-arrival email. Lost it? Call or text 0449 575 905.

Snake safety

No shooting snakes. Snakes are protected wildlife in Tasmania, so leave them be and back away.

Snakes live here
Tiger snakes, lowland copperheads and white-lipped snakes all live on the farm. They are protected, so never try to catch, harm or kill one. Give any snake plenty of room and it will move on. Wear boots and long trousers, watch where you put your feet and hands, and use a torch at night.
If someone is bitten
- Call 000 straight away.
- Keep the person lying down and still, and reassure them.
- Put a firm elastic bandage over the bite, then bandage the whole limb from the fingers or toes upwards, as firmly as you can.
- Splint the limb so it can't move, and keep the person still.
- Do not wash, cut or suck the bite, and do not use a tourniquet.
- Write down the time of the bite and the time the bandage went on.
- Stay with them until help arrives. Do not remove the bandage.
We're remote
An ambulance can take a long time to reach the farm, and mobile coverage is patchy. Bring a UHF CB radio (we'll give you our channel), and carry a snake bite kit with at least two wide elastic compression bandages. Know where you are on the farm so you can tell 000 how to find you.
Price, terms and waiver
Camping only is $110 a night per group (all prices include GST). Book 4 nights, get the 5th free: from 5 nights in a row it's $88 a night. If you cancel more than 7 days before your booked date, we'll refund you within a week, less a cancellation fee of $22 plus 2.2% of the booking total. If you cancel within 7 days of your booking start date, or don't turn up, there's no change-of-mind refund. This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, or a refund or new date if we cancel.
Extra camper firewood: about enough for a couple of days, $55 incl GST, as an optional add-on when you book (camping or hunting stays). Small quantities available for campers, subject to availability. No campfires on total fire ban days.
We only host one group on the property at a time, so you won't share it with other guests, and all the money goes back into improving the farm.
Arriving. Check-in from 3 pm. Latest arrival for induction is 6 pm, as inductions must be finished by 6:30 pm. Running late? Call or text William on 0449 575 905.
Please read our camping booking terms (v1.5) and camping waiver (v1.5) (printable PDF).
Primal Pastures is a working farm, and staff or contractors may be on site from time to time. Please follow any directions we give you at induction.
Check dates and book Times, induction and the booking form are all on the booking page.
Guest vehicles
Bringing your own UTV, quad or 4WD? Good on you, the tracks are half the fun. A few simple rules keep everyone safe:
- Your vehicle must be registered or insured, and every driver must hold a current licence.
- Wear a helmet on a quad, and no passengers on a single-seat quad.
- No one under 16 drives.
- Stay on marked tracks and keep to 20 km/h on all farm tracks.
- Guests don't operate any farm machinery or farm vehicles.

Your guest waiver covers vehicle use. See the camping waiver or the hunting waiver.
