Black Australorp hens and hatching eggs
Big, glossy black chooks that lay well and earn their keep around the farm.

Our chooks

We breed large Black Australorps here on the farm. They're a proper utility bird: great layers with high egg production, and tasty meat too. They're also calm, hardy and happy foraging out on pasture.
Just so you know, we don't sell chicken meat. What we do have, every now and then, is a few extra birds and eggs for other people's flocks.
Point-of-lay hens
Young hens just about ready to start laying. Pickup from the farm by appointment, or, when we have a large volume ready, on a pre-scheduled weekend day at the Fingal Post Office. Black Australorp pullets are $66 each, or $55 each for 10 or more (GST included). Our flock is still growing, so numbers are limited and not always available.

Fertile hatching eggs
Fertile eggs for your incubator or a clucky hen. We can post them with Australia Post in Eggspress Safe containers.
Availability is occasional, depending on the season and how the girls are laying. Use the order page when eggs are listed.

Chicken FAQ
Can I buy chicken meat?
No, we don't sell chicken meat.
Do you deliver hens?
No, point-of-lay hens are pickup only, from the farm by appointment. Alternatively, when we have a large volume of point-of-lay hens ready, we will have them available on a pre-scheduled weekend day at the Fingal Post Office for pickup.
How are hatching eggs sent?
We post them with Australia Post in Eggspress Safe containers to Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT, Queensland and South Australia. We don't post to WA or NT.
What about roosters?
About half of hatched chicks will be roosters. Have a plan for them before you incubate.
If I buy a live rooster or hen, can you dispatch it for me?
No. Live birds must leave the farm alive. We can't process or kill birds sold as live animals (legal issues around selling meat).
