Private UTV and quad tracks through the hills at Tower Hill

Explore our private farm tracks. Track rules, hazards and what you need on public roads and forest.

Our tracks

Hunters can use the whole property, Pig Creek plus all of Fonthill: about 900 acres of hill country on the slopes of Tower Hill, running from about 560 m up to nearly 800 m above sea level. It's a mix of old dairy pasture, ex-plantation country, young native tree plantings, managed grazing land and plantation forest, with flats, undulating ground and steep hills up the top.

Tracks. There's a big network of tracks, with more being cut soon. You'll find a gravel road, UTV and ATV tracks and fence-line runs. Steep spots, boggy patches and rollover risks are marked on your map and we'll walk you through them at induction.

Fences and gates. Fence-line tracks follow the boundary, and there are gates right through the property. The golden rule is simple: leave every gate as you found it.

Water. There are nearly 8 km of mapped creeks and gullies across our farm and the leased Fonthill block, including Pig, Coxs, Long Gully and Sling Pot Creeks.

Hazards and track rules

Seven track hazard icons: steep and washed-out tracks, livestock, fences, fallen timber, creek crossings, gates, and seedlings
  • Primal Pastures is a working farm. Staff and contractors may be on site from time to time, so always positively identify your target and what's beyond it, and treat any vehicle or person as present.
  • Stick to the tracks shown at the induction, and drive slowly. Tracks can be steep, loose and washed out after rain.
  • Some tracks are signposted UTV/ATV access only, and the gravel road is the only one suited to all vehicles.
  • Watch for livestock, fences, fallen timber and creek crossings.
  • Leave every gate as you found it.
  • Don't damage the seedlings or trees.

Public roads and forest

You can explore our own private tracks during your stay. When travelling on public roads or public forest land, for example between sections of the farm or to explore the area, vehicles must be registered and insured and drivers licensed. Quads and side-by-sides need the right registration and can only go where the land manager allows. On our private tracks, our rules apply.

Six farm track rules for UTV and quad riders

Stick to existing tracks, leave gates as you found them, and watch for logging trucks on Tower Hill Road and the forest roads, which are gravel.

Maps

Booked guests receive offline GPS map files of the farm and surrounds (for Avenza, Garmin, onX and Google Earth) with their pre-arrival email.

Farm gates remain closed and locked at all times. Your gate code is sent in your pre-arrival email. Lost it? Call or text 0449 575 905.

Guest vehicles

Bringing your own UTV, quad or 4WD? Good on you, the tracks are half the fun. A few simple rules keep everyone safe:

  • Your vehicle must be registered or insured, and every driver must hold a current licence.
  • Wear a helmet on a quad, and no passengers on a single-seat quad.
  • No one under 16 drives.
  • Stay on marked tracks and keep to 20 km/h on all farm tracks.
  • Guests don't operate any farm machinery or farm vehicles.

Your guest waiver covers vehicle use. See the camping waiver or the hunting waiver.
