Goat & lamb

Goat, lamb and hogget from our paddocks

Alongside the pigs and cattle, we run sheep and goats on the farm at Tower Hill. We process a few times a year, so availability is limited. When it's ready, you'll find it at the Fingal Post Office.

Live animal FAQ

If I buy a live animal, can you dispatch or process it for me?

No. Live animals must leave the farm alive. We can't kill or process animals sold as live (legal issues around selling meat).

If I'm buying live cattle, sheep, goats or pigs, do I need a PIC?

Yes. We won't sell those animals without your Property Identification Code (PIC), and we complete the appropriate transfer paperwork before they leave.

Lamb and hogget

A side of hogget, cut and laid out ready for packing.

Hogget is a young sheep, a bit older than lamb, with a little more flavour. When we have lamb or hogget, it's cut and packed ready for the freezer.

We only process a few times a year, so there's no set price list or cut list. What's available changes with each batch, and it doesn't hang around long!

Goat

Goat is the same story: it's processed a few times a year and there isn't much of it, so it's first in, best dressed.

When we have it, diced goat is $25 per 1 kg pack. Ask at the Fingal Post Office or join the notify list.

Fresh and smoked meat (pork, ham, bacon, beef, goat and lamb) is GST-free.

Miniature goat kids (pets)

Every November we usually have a few Pygmy-cross kids looking for pet homes as companion goats. Kids go to new homes in a minimum of two, so you can take two, three or more. We keep most of the does for our herd, but every now and then a doe is available too.

Wethers $385 each (GST included). Does $550 each (GST included), when available. Unregistered. Numbers are limited, our herd is still growing, and we don't offer kids year round, so join the waiting list and we'll be in touch when the next lot is ready.

Kids that aren't sold as pets join our meat herd.

You'll need a PIC number (Property Identification Code). Put yours on the form when you register.

Apply for a PIC (Property Identification Code) through Biosecurity Tasmania. We can also supply bags of feed: see stockfeed, or ask us when you enquire.
