How ordering works

We raise animals on pasture and process in small batches. When a batch is ready it sells out. Here's how it works.

  1. Join the notify listTell us what you're after.
  2. We email when a batch is readyNo set dates. When we have stock, you'll hear first.
  3. Order and payWe open orders for that batch only.
  4. CollectPickup at the Fingal Post Office, or on a local run when we have one.

Money from our meat sales, and from hunting and camping, goes straight back into improving the farm: fences, water, trees and the paddocks the animals live on.

Prices can change between batches. We'll always confirm the price before you pay.

Waubs Harbour Distillery in Bicheno has its own cooperage, and when their barrels (which held whisky for multiple years) are shaved back to virgin wood and recharred, we get the shavings. We use them to smoke our bacon, hams and kranskies, for a delicious smoky flavour. Even the pigs are part of the loop, as they're fed spent barley and yeast we collect from Waubs every week.

  • Bacon, streaky (usually 250 g packs)$55/kg
  • Bacon, short-cut (usually 250 g packs)$60/kg
  • Ham, unsliced$45/kg
  • Ham, sliced$50/kg
  • Ashgrove three-cheese & jalapeño kranskies, made with 3 different Ashgrove cheeses (packs about 500 g)$55/kg

Christmas hams are a separate pre-order at $44/kg. See Christmas hams. More on the smoke: Waubs Harbour Whisky.

Between our own processing dates, we also stock Pyengana Premium Meats (opens in a new tab), a fellow north-east Tasmanian producer who also farms regeneratively. Their products are theirs, not ours, and what's in stock varies.

Grass fed and finished beef. Our first beef sales are Angus crosses, and we'll be moving towards more and more Dexters over time.

We'll announce when beef is coming up for processing. Join the mailing list to hear first. We'll share prices when it's ready.

Piglets

Saddleback piglets bedded down together in straw

We sometimes have piglets available. Live piglets at 5 to 6 weeks are $132 each, and weaners at 8 weeks are $165 each, both inc GST. Register your interest below and we'll be in touch when we have a litter ready.

Piglets: expression of interest

Pigs are social, so we recommend taking at least two. You'll need a Property Identification Code (PIC) from Biosecurity Tasmania, and pigs must never be fed meat or scraps that have touched meat.

If I buy a live animal, can you dispatch or process it for me?

No. Live animals must leave the farm alive. We can't kill or process animals sold as live (legal issues around selling meat).

If I'm buying live cattle, sheep, goats or pigs, do I need a PIC?

Yes. We won't sell those animals without your Property Identification Code (PIC), and we complete the appropriate transfer paperwork before they leave.
